PIER II PIER

JAM SESSION REMIX OPEN CALL

OFFICIAL RULES AND TERMS

Last updated: September 4, 2026

This is a skill-based open call. There are no guaranteed winners. No purchase is necessary.

1. Sponsor

The open call is operated by Pier II Pier (“Sponsor”), a music project based in Alberta, Canada. Contact is through the Sponsor website contact form, or at info@pieriipier.ca.

2. What this is

This is an invitation to request jam-session stems from Sponsor and to submit an original remix or finished song built from those stems. Sponsor may, in its sole artistic discretion, accept a submitted track. Acceptance is not guaranteed. This is not a random draw, lottery, or sweepstakes.

3. Eligibility

Open to individuals who are legal residents of Canada and have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of the stem request. Employees, contractors, and immediate family members of Sponsor are not eligible. Collaborators on a single submission count as one submitting artist/band and must designate one contact person.

4. How to take part

During the period the open call is posted, contact Sponsor through the website. In your message:

  • state your artist or band name;
  • provide a working email address;
  • request which jam session(s) you want to remix; and
  • confirm that you have read and agree to these Official Rules.

If Sponsor agrees to send stems, Sponsor will email or otherwise deliver the selected stems. Receiving stems does not mean your finished track will be accepted or paid. You may submit a finished track only after you have received stems from Sponsor for that request.

5. Track requirements

To be considered, a submitted track must:

  • use audio from the stems Sponsor provided for at least seventy-five percent (75%) of the finished track’s audible duration (measured as the portion of the mix that is derived from those stems, not merely as file count);
  • contain no third-party material (samples, vocals, loops, interpolations, AI-generated audio you do not own, or other recordings) unless you solely own it or have a written licence that allows Sponsor to exploit the finished track as described in these Rules;
  • be your original creative work as a derivative of the provided stems;
  • not be defamatory, unlawful, or infringing; and
  • be delivered in the format Sponsor requests (for example, a high-quality stereo mix and, if accepted, session files or stems of your additions).

Sponsor may refuse any track that does not meet these requirements, or for any other artistic reason, with no obligation to explain.

6. No guaranteed winners

Sponsor is under no obligation to accept any track, to use any track, or to pay anyone. Liking, commenting, downloading stems, or submitting a finished song does not create a contract to pay or to release the song. Only a written acceptance from Sponsor plus payment of the Bitcoin amount in Section 7 creates the rights and revenue-share terms in Sections 8 and 9.

7. Payment if a track is accepted

If Sponsor decides it wants to use your submitted track, Sponsor will notify you in writing and, after you confirm a Bitcoin receiving address that you control, pay you Bitcoin equal to one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100) using a publicly quoted CAD/BTC market rate on the date of payment.

You are solely responsible for providing a correct address, for wallet fees, and for any tax reporting arising from the payment. Sponsor will never ask for a seed phrase, private key, or remote access to your wallet. If you do not provide a usable address within fourteen (14) days of request, Sponsor may withdraw the offer.

The CAD $100 Bitcoin payment is a one-time acceptance fee. It is not an advance against the revenue share unless Sponsor states otherwise in writing.

8. Rights granted if the track is accepted and paid

The stems and underlying jam-session recordings remain the exclusive property of Sponsor at all times.

If and only if Sponsor accepts the track and pays the CAD $100 Bitcoin amount, you assign to Sponsor all right, title, and interest in and to the finished track and your contributions to it (including copyright in the sound recording of the finished mix and in any new composition or arrangement you added), throughout the world, in all media now known or later developed, for the full term of those rights including renewals.

You also grant Sponsor the exclusive right to register, distribute, monetize, edit, master, pitch, perform, synchronize (subject to any separate sync licence Sponsor may negotiate), and otherwise commercially use the finished track, and to credit the work as a Pier II Pier release featuring your artist or band name.

You waive in favour of Sponsor and its licensees all moral rights you have in the finished track under the Copyright Act (Canada) and similar laws, to the extent those rights may be waived, including the rights of integrity and association. You retain the right to be credited as the remixer or featured creator in a commercially reasonable form determined by Sponsor.

Until a track is accepted and paid, you may not commercially release, register, or monetize a mix that uses Sponsor’s stems. If your track is not accepted, you must delete or cease commercial use of the stems on request. Non-commercial private listening of your own unfinished work is allowed.

9. Revenue share

If the track is accepted and paid for under Section 7, you will receive twenty-five percent (25%) of Net Receipts actually received by Sponsor from commercial exploitation of that specific accepted track on music platforms (including streaming and download distributors such as Spotify, Apple Music, and similar services, through Sponsor’s distributor).

“Net Receipts” means amounts actually received by Sponsor for that track after deduction of: distributor and platform fees; payment-processing fees; taxes and withholdings required by law; refunds, chargebacks, and fraud reversals; and any collection-society or neighbouring-rights admin fees that apply to the same receipts. Sync licences, live performance income, merch, and other uses are included only if Sponsor actually receives identifiable revenue attributed to that track; otherwise they are excluded unless agreed in writing.

Accounting period. Revenue is calculated on a calendar-year basis. The first accounting year begins on the first January 1 that occurs after the track is first commercially released on a music platform. Amounts received in that calendar year are payable on or before the following January 1.

Example: if the track is released in September 2026, the first accounting year is January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2027, and the 25% share for that year is payable on or before January 1, 2028. Later years follow the same pattern.

Payment of the revenue share will be made in Canadian dollars or in Bitcoin of equivalent value on the payment date, at Sponsor’s choice, to the contact details you last provided. Sponsor may require a completed tax form or invoice before paying. If Net Receipts for a year are under CAD $25, Sponsor may roll that amount into the next year.

You will not receive statements more often than annually unless Sponsor agrees otherwise. The revenue share does not make you a partner, joint venturer, or band member.

10. Credit

If released, Sponsor will credit your artist or band name in a commercially reasonable way (for example, “Pier II Pier – [Track Title] (feat. [Your Name])” or “remixed by [Your Name]”). Exact billing is Sponsor’s decision.

11. Representations

By requesting stems or submitting a track, you represent that: you meet the eligibility rules; the additions you include are legally yours to grant; you have full power to assign the rights described in Section 8 if the track is accepted; and your submission will not infringe any third-party right. You will indemnify Sponsor against claims arising from your breach of these representations.

12. Privacy

Sponsor collects your name, artist name, email, and any Bitcoin address you provide only to administer this open call, deliver stems, evaluate tracks, pay accepted creators, and meet legal record-keeping duties. Information is handled under applicable Canadian privacy law. Sponsor will not sell your personal information.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Alberta and Canadian law, Sponsor is not liable for lost submissions, email failure, stem-file corruption, Bitcoin network fees or delays, exchange-rate movement between offer and payment, platform takedowns, or any indirect or consequential loss. Sponsor’s total liability arising from this open call is limited to the CAD $100 Bitcoin payment if one was actually made to you.

14. Changes, cancellation, and governing law

Sponsor may close the open call, refuse any request, or amend these Rules prospectively by posting an updated version. Changes do not take accepted-and-paid tracks backwards except as required by law.

These Rules are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Courts in Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction, except that Sponsor may seek injunctive relief elsewhere to protect its stems and copyrights.

If any term is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Rules are the entire agreement about the open call unless a later signed writing says otherwise.
